Network Layer:

  • PTN:Core and aggregation layers of MANs, provincial/national backbone networks. Operates at the core and aggregation layers, carrying large volumes of data traffic across the network backbone. Covers a wider range, including access, aggregation, and core layers of the network, spanning metropolitan and national backbone networks.

Applications:

  • ATN:Edge of the Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). Located at the edge of the network, typically in metropolitan areas, providing multi-service access for various services like voice, data, and video over dedicated lines or shared Ethernet connections.
  • PTN:Transport large volumes of data packets efficiently across longer distances, it focus on high-speed transmission and efficient resource utilization. Primarily handles packet-based data transport, offering high bandwidth and scalability for services like mobile backhaul, data center interconnection, and cloud services. Used for building high-capacity provincial/national backbone networks and mobile bearer networks, supporting services like 3G/4G/5G mobile backhaul, leased lines, and data center interconnection.
